Hi all,

I have installed VS2005 on my machine.
But when installing winCE6.0, it met ToolsMsmCA(Error) problem.
Got some suggestions from internet:
1. delete concore folder
2. delete reg key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\DeviceSDKInstaller\1.0]
3. regsvr32 %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Visual Studio
9.0\vc\vcpackages\DeviceSDKInstComp.dll.

I'm confused about the third step. I didn't install vs2008, and consequently
have no vs90 folder.

then I thought, "anyway I should find a DeviceSDKInstComp.dll and register
it".
I searched it and found one and registered it. the result was the reg key I
deleted before was added again and looks there is new folder (named 5.01)
under corecon
again.

When I re-installed WinCE6.0, the same problem hppened.

Then I deleted the reg key again and re-installed. the new problem happened.
"SimpleFileCA(error): setup package issue: CreateFile failed(5).

I totally have no idea about it.

What should I do next to fix the problem?

big thanks.

You need to understand the "why" for those things, rather than just blindly
doing them. None of the suggestions that I see there makes any sense as far
as allowing CE6 to be installed. So, it's no surprise at all that the error
didn't change.

Looking at the last error, SimpleFileCA(error): setup package issue:
CreateFile failed(5)., which is the only one you gave enough details for us
to look at, we see that error 5 is reported. Did you look that up? "Access
is denied. " Are you an administrator on the machine where you are
installing CE6/VS2005?

Paul,

You are right. I disabled UAC and re-installed CE6.
It succeeded this time.
thanks.
